Lullaby for Mothers is a compilation of 20 poems about motherhood written by Mary Walker. The book cover was made in accordance to what the author herself wanted; a different kind of femininity displayed as both powerful and nurturing. The main image on the cover is based off of an African style sculpture displaying a mother holding her child and encompassing the child with who she as. The child is also an extension of who she is.
The bright blue and red contrasts against the soft nude so as to guide reader's eyes to the book cover.
